Real talk
What traders actually experience beyond the marketing copy.
Best drawdown room (4% Standard). Advanced plan's no-DLL + no-consistency + withdrawals-don't-reduce-drawdown is genuinely the best funded experience available. But: Standard's 70% starting split is awful, news restricted on Standard/Zero, and automation prohibited.
4% EOD drawdown on Standard is the most generous in the industry ($4K on $100K vs $3K-$3.5K everywhere else). Advanced has 3.5% but withdrawals don't reduce it (unique advantage).
Standard starts at 70% split - worst starting split in industry. Takes 5 payouts (~10 weeks) to reach 90%. Advanced starts at 90% but costs double and has 8% profit target. Zero has tight payout caps ($1.5K-$2.5K).
Standard 70% starting split (worst in industry). Micro-scalping ban (2 min / 10 ticks). HFT ban (100+ trades/day). News restricted on Standard/Zero (2 min buffer). Automation prohibited. Standard/Zero: withdrawals reduce max loss limit.
Most established firm. Free resets are huge. Automated trading allowed on TopstepX. But: all new accounts forced to TopstepX (no NinjaTrader/Tradovate choice). Post-payout MLL reset is dangerous. Scaling starts at only 2-3 contracts on funded.
EOD trailing is fair - intraday swings don't move the floor. Locks once profit exceeds drawdown amount. CRITICAL: After a payout, your MLL resets to $0 - one bad day right after withdrawing can blow the account instantly.
90/10 from day one for new traders. Post-payout MLL reset to $0 is the biggest hidden risk. Free resets are genuinely valuable. Back2Funded ($599-829) lets you revive a blown funded account.
After payout, MLL resets to $0 - extremely vulnerable. New accounts TopstepX only (no NinjaTrader/Tradovate). Funded starts at 2-3 contracts (must scale up). VPS/VPN usage PROHIBITED. Positions must close by 3:10 PM CT. $30 ACH payout fee.
